A variation of the Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2, the Ferrari 400I, is a front-engined V12 grand touring sports car manufactured by Ferrari from 1979 to 1985. Like many other fuel injected models of the early 80’s, the 400I did see a small performance decrease. With the Bosch K-Jetronic system installed, the overall power of the vehicle decreased to 306 horsepower with a top speed of 149 mph.
Like earlier variations, the 400I was available in both a desirable 5-speed manual transmission and was one of the first models available with an 3-speed automatic transmission. Many thought the introduction of an automatic transmission was for the U.S. Market; however, the 400I was never officially imported into the States.
The majority of the 1,305 units of the Ferrari 400I had automatic transmission. The Ferrari 412—the final model in the 400 series that came to market in 1985—brought more enhancements to the 400I model.
