Starting in 1981, the Ferrari 512 BBI rolled off the manufacturing line as a fuel-injected version of the Ferrari 512 Berlinetta Boxer. The upgrade to the Bosch K jetronic fuel injection system reduced emissions while also providing more balance between performance and driveability. The last 512 mid-engined road car to use the 5 litre 12 cylinder engine, only 1,007 Ferrari 512 BBIs were produced from 1981 to 1984. Ferrari 512 BBI was replaced in 1984 with the extremely popular Ferrari Testarossa.
