The last of the early front-engined V12 grand tourer sports cars from Ferrari, the Ferrari 412 rolled off the line in 1985. The engine was bored out 1 mm to make the single cylinder displacement 412 cubic centimeters—hence the name Ferrari 412.
Like the models preceding it, the 412 was available in a 5-speed manual or 3-speed automatic transmission. The Ferrari 412 was the first model to offer an antilock braking system.
A total of 576 units were manufactured from 1985 to 1989. After a short three-year hiatus, the front-engined V12 2+2 made a comeback with the Ferrari 456.
