Ferrari / 308 QV
The 1982 Paris Motor Show showcased the next variation of 308 models for Ferrari. The Ferrari 308 Quattrovalvole was manufactured from 1982 through 1985. The main change in this variation—and the inspiration for its name—was the upgrade to four valves per cylinder. “Quattrovalvole” is Italian for “four valves.” From 1982 – 1985 only 3,042 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvoles and 748 Ferrari 308 GTB Quattrovalvoles were manufactured.
Similar to the preceding 308 models, the Ferrari 308 QV featured the 2.9L V8 engine and five-speed manual transmission of the Ferrari 308 GTB and GTS, as well as the Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system and electronic ignition system from the Ferrari 308 GTBi and Ferrari 308 GTSi. These modifications restored some performance with the addition of the emissions control equipment in the Ferrari 308 GTBi and Ferrari 308 GTSi models.
Like the other 308 models, the Ferrari 308 GTSi Quattrovalvole was the sports car driven by Tom Selleck during filming of seasons 7 and 8 of the hit TV show Magnum P.I.
