Replacing the Ferrari 308 GT4 and Ferrari 208 GT4 coupes, the Ferrari Mondial models were manufactured from 1980 to 1993. This mid engined V8 sports car was the last 2+2 road car manufactured by Ferrari. The name Mondial, in french, means global and reflects the conformance to the new global safety and emissions standards of 1980.

The Ferrari Mondial QV was introduced in 1982 and manufactured through 1985.

The Mondial QV continued to use the 3.0L V8, but was increased to four valves per cylinder rather than the two in the previous model. With these updates the performance was far superior it’s predecessor, the Ferrari Mondial 8. The updated engine was capable of producing a maximum power output of 235 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 188 lb ft of torque at 5,500 rpm. Acceleration in the Mondial QV was substantially better, by nearly 2 seconds compared to the Mondial 8 with a 0 to 60 miles per hour time of 6.4 seconds.

Unlike previous models, the Mondial QV was the first model of Mondial available in a cabriolet version. With the introduction of the cabriolet, the popularity of the Mondial line increased, especially in the US market.
A total of 1,774 cars were produced during the run with the majority being the coupe version and only 69 of those being imported into the United States. There were 629 total cabriolet versions created. US imports accounted for only 282 units.
