The Ferrari California debuted at the 2008 Paris Motor Show and represented a new model class for Ferrari. Among its many firsts, the California was the first front-engined, eight-cylinder grand touring sports car. Considered a landmark vehicle for Ferrari, the California used several features for the first time in a road car, including a 7-speed dual clutch manual transmission, a hard top folding metal roof, multi-link rear suspension and direct injection engine.
Ferrari spent extensive time perfecting the aerodynamics of the original California. At the time it was manufactured, the Ferrari California was the most aerodynamic car ever created. The Ferrari California was capable of reaching a top speed of 193 mph and could accelerate from 0 to 60 in under four seconds. The new F136 V8 engine generated up to 453 horsepower with 358 foot pounds of torque
The Ferrari California was manufactured from 2009 to 2013. Starting in 2014, the twin turbo-charged version, Ferrari California T, was introduced.
